VALENCIA - FALLAS MUSEUM AND CITY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

Our Guided Tour Valencia Fallas Museum and City of Arts and Sciences is a 2 or 3 hours private walking tour to the museum of the main Valencian festival – Las Fallas and the most avant-garde architectural complex in Valencia – The City of Arts and Sciences.

First we are going to visit the Fallas Museum of Valencia which is dedicated to the main local festival – so called Las Fallas. In the year 2016 Las Fallas festival was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. The Fallas Museum exhibits the figures (aka “ninots”) which were saved from fire on the last night of the festival officially called la nit de la cremà that literally means “the night of fire”. It is the night from 19-th to 20-th of March when all Fallas monuments are burned in fire with the exception of only two figures (aka “ninots”). One of them belongs to the Big Fallas Monuments and the other to the Children’s Fallas Monuments. The museum has an impressive collection of these “ninots” saved from fire from 1934 to the present day. We are going to explain different techniques used along the years to produce ninots and also will enjoy the collection of official posters of Fallas festival from the old times till nowadays.

We will continue our guided tour to the spectaculare architectural complex of the City of Arts and Sciences which is the work of two Spanish architects: Santiago Calatrava and Felix Candela. A true prodigy of futuristic architecture of the 21-st Century. The Reina Sofía Palace of the Arts, which is the Opera of Valencia, the Prince Philip Science Museum, the Umbracle Gardens where the most chic Valencian nightclub is located, the Hemispheric which holds inside IMAX-Dome Cinema and finally the Agora Event Hall. The complex was filming location of the Disney movie Tomorrowland with George Clooney as the main character and the third season of HBO’s Westworld with Thandie Newton among other cast members.
